This month’s theme: Some like it volcanic
February can be a dark, chilly month, so why not picture ourselves somewhere a little hotter? Like, volcano hot. Hosts Kyla Peal and Marie Cheslik are ready to teach us all about the importance of terroir and how soil types impact your wine by focusing on wines that come from volcanic regions — including one an Italian winery that’s located on the northern side of the always-active Mount Etna. And because this month is also a little about love, our February hosts want you to enjoy your bottles with those close to you.
This month’s curators: Kyla Peal and Marie Cheslik of Slik Wines
Kyla Peal is currently the assistant sommelier at anticipated October opening, Claudia, and Marie Cheslik was most recently the wine director at Michelin-starred restaurant, Elske. The pair started Slik in 2020 as a way to bring their decades of hospitality experience to folks outside the traditional walls of a restaurant. Their Slik mission? To demystify the wine industry and to have the diversity of wines produced around the world reflect the diversity of the people who drink them. Slik achieves this through online and in-person wine courses, at-home cellar consultations, a monthly wine club, and robust (and incredibly entertaining) Instagram tutorials.
