This month’s curator: Ryan and Christopher Goydo

"Wine Outside" is one of our all-time favorite activities! There's really nothing we love more than sitting outside with each other and sharing stories over a bottle of wine. There's something about fresh air, blue skies, and good company that enhances each sip, and there's really no better time to do this than during the Summer. People find themselves in several different group settings over the Summer; a picnic in the park, a beachside gathering, a backyard barbecue, or even around a late night fire pit. That's why all the wines we picked for the box are meant to be chilled down and shared, and ideally enjoyed in an outdoor setting. We can assure you that any wine you bring will be one of the wines of the night.” —Ryan Goydos

  • Remi Pouzin, Vice Versa Loire Valley, France; red, cinsault, grenache blanc, viogniera: Rémi Pouizin is a winemaker with a passion for crafting "living wines." This isn't just a catchy phrase – it's his philosophy. He's the driving force behind Domaine Dieu-Le-Fit, a vineyard in Southern Rhône, France, known for producing unique organic wines. Great wine to enjoy on any occasion! This unusual blend has red and purple fruit flavors, floral notes, and a hint of spice. Definitely a must-try, it pairs well with grilled fish, chicken, or pork, as well as salads and cheeses.
  • Weingut Diem, D'Ora Orange Weinviertel, Austria; white blend, roter traminer, gruner veltliner: D'Ora's got some serious history behind it! Weingut Diem, the folks who make it, have been pouring their hearts (and grapes!) into wines from Austria's Weinviertel region since way back in 1848, that's five generations! They're all about using organic grapes and keeping things eco- friendly, which makes D'Ora a great choice if you're looking for a tasty and responsible tipple. A versatile orange wine with citrus and stone fruit flavors, pairs beautifully with spicy dishes, Asian cuisine, and grilled fish. Balanced and refreshingly dry, it offers delightful notes of orange, peach, and ginger on the palate, culminating in a long, lingering finish.
  • Weingut Idler,Trollinger Alte Reben | Swabia, Germany; red, trollinger: Marcel Idler is a rising star in Swabian winemaking! His vineyards are a patchwork of 30-35 plots, with a quarter dedicated to the Swabian specialty, Trollinger. We're thrilled to finally share Marcel's creations with you! This is your outdoor partner in crime! It's lighter-bodied than some reds, with juicy cherry and raspberry red fruits flavors, like a basket of berries you just picked from the hedgerow. The finish is smooth, like a soft patch of grass. Some hints on the nose like pepper and nutmeg. A perfect match for grilled meats and veggies. Try a bottle outside and enjoy!
  • Leon Gold, White Gold cuvée  Swabia, Germany; white, alicante:  Leon Gold's passion for wine began with a childhood fascination with his neighbors' vines. This fascination led him to explore renowned biodynamic wineries. After honing his craft, Leon returned to his beloved Remstal region to fulfill a lifelong dream – his own winery. He believes true quality comes from the vineyard, not just the cellar! This innovative blend takes their signature white wine and adds a touch of Alicante grapes, a variety rarely seen in Germany. Truly a captivating wine that merges classic white wine characteristics with a hint of dark fruit intrigue. It has a delightful interplay of flavors. A perfect conversation starter at any gathering!
  • Sebastien David, Hurluberlu | Loire Valley, France; red, cabernet franc:  A generational legacy, a natural wine champion, and a Cabernet Franc master - David comes from a long line of winemakers since the 17th century! A dedicated advocate for natural winemaking, and primarily works with
Cabernet Franc, the dominant red grape of the region. A wild Cabernet Franc for your outdoor adventures. Expect a rush of fresh, wild berries, like you just stumbled upon a hidden patch of raspberries after a hike.
A hint of earthiness, like the forest floor. It's the perfect companion for grilling under the stars, a picnic in the park or cozying up by a campfire.
  • Domaine du Facteur , La Bulle de Facteur Rosé | Loire Valley, France; rosé, gamay: Imagine two wine buddies, Fabien (Sebastien Brunet's old apprentice) and Mathieu, chilling in 2013. They decide to ditch all the fuss and create super easy-drinking wines for their mates. Think light, refreshing, perfect for sharing good times and good conversation. Fast forward to today, Fabien's got his own vineyards. A sparkling rosé that perfectly complements any outdoor adventure! It is not just a wine; it's an experience. The wine's acidity cuts through rich dishes, creating a perfect balance. Lively bubbles with fresh and fruity aromas of wildflowers and berries!
  • Proyecto Nakkal, Nakcool Canelones Red | Canelones, Uruguay; red, merlot & muscat ottonel:  “Craving a taste of pure Uruguay? Founded in 2020 by two passionate friends, this winery isn't about bells and whistles. Forget heavy additives and oak. Instead, they source organic grapes, letting the essence of the fruit sing. If you're craving something unexpected, this is the perfect light red for you! Playfully funky, with a touch of barnyard and smoke, with juicy red fruits like strawberry and raspberry, with hints of lavender and charcoal embers. Chill it slightly and pair with grilled seafood with garlicky romesco sauce, smoky eggplant dishes for a vegetarian twist, or a spicy sausage pizza!
  • Proyecto Nakkal , Nakcool Canelones White | Canelones, Uruguay; white, muscat ottonel, viognier, and ugni blanc: Inspired by the legendary Nakkals, guardians of balance, they craft wines that are as natural and expressive as the land itself. But what truly sets Proyecto Nakkal apart? Their unwavering belief in Uruguay's potential for incredible natural wines – and they're ready to share it with the world! This Uruguayan white is more than just a drink! It's like you’re transported to a sun-drenched Uruguayan vineyard. Crisp and clean, with a scent of just-cut grapefruit and lime. You can feel the vibrant acidity on your tongue and taste some juicy pear and flavors of apricot. Light-bodied and clean-finishing. Try it with a creamy French salad, Asian curry, or African dishes!
